The Wall Plugs are usually switches or dimmer that are plugged into the standard mains outlet. After connecting the cord of the load to the plug then switching and dimming of normal outlets is enabled.

There exist different devices for the different plug types in Europe (type E, F or G). A LED indicates the switching or dimming state of the device.
