Sensors are Z-Wave devices that connect to the central controller via Z-Wave protocol, but can also directly control other actuators. Examples of this are light switching in the event of open movement or heating off due to the opening of the window. Sensors are usually powered by batteries. Depending on the use of the radio transmitter, the devices have a battery life of between one and three years. Of particular interest are multi-sensors in which a plurality of sensing values, such as temperature or humidity, are provided by a single device via the Z-Wave network.
